Self Sacrifice To Save Others

Story line:
Scene where it shows self sacrifice: When descending from Siula after Joe Simpson and Simon Yates summit assault of Siula Grande (year), Joe breaks his leg and Simon has to make conscious decision whether he should either sacrifice the risk of his life in order to save his long time compatriot or descend down the mountain alone. In the beginning Simon decides to stick with Joe lowering him by 2 ropes as a belay. With Simon doing this he sacrificing to save a crippled Joe by undertaking physical pain such as dehydration, muscular pain, hypothermia and frostbite due to it taking longer to descend with Joe. However as the sight of death proceeds to come nearer as Simon’s legs can no longer hold Joe’s weight who has fallen of a crevasse and a storm beginning to condense Simon makes the decision to no longer sacrifice the risk of his life to save Joe by cutting the rope losing the connection and accountability of each other to instead put his life before Joe’s.
